Application

Each degree programme has its own website with information on course content, deadlines, contact persons and, above all, on how to apply. You can search for your desired degree programme in our degree programme overview.

On each course page you will find the section "Application information". Please read all the information directly below to find out the specific admission requirements. You will find the following keywords there, for example:

  • Application: The application for a place at OTH Regensburg takes place exclusively via our online application portal. Here you will find the access link and further information. Please note: The portal is only open during the application period. You must complete the online application in full and upload all required documents to the portal as a PDF. Some documents can be submitted later, but only if the application has been received by the deadline.
  • Deadlines: The application deadlines depend on the degree programme. You can find all the important dates here. If certificates can be submitted after the application deadline, you will find a note on this here. Do not withdraw your application after the application deadline in order to add documents and resubmit it, as it is no longer possible to resubmit it after the deadline! Instead, upload any additional documents via the portal. Submission is no longer possible after the deadline!
  • International: Here you will find information on certificate recognition and the required language skills.
  • Higher semester: Under certain conditions, it is possible to apply for a higher semester and have academic achievements recognized.

After submitting your application, you will receive a written confirmation of receipt by e-mail. You can use this confirmation to apply for your visa. It can take several months to process a visa application ! Please find out about the visa requirements in your country before you apply! Unfortunately, we cannot issue conditional admission during the application process.

It is possible to apply for several degree programmes.

For details on the content of the degree programmes and the selection procedure, please contact the Student Advisory Service. The contact persons can be found on the respective course page.

In our step-by-step manual we guide you through the application portal.

What you should know

  • You can check the status of your application in the application portal under your status. The status "Valid" does not mean that you have been admitted, but that you are participating in the study place allocation procedure. As long as your application has the status "In preparation", we have not received your application. Please check whether you have entered all the required information.

For detailedinformation on the statusplease follow the link.

  • Applications to a higher semester are only successful if the course program already completed matches that of the OTH. Please compare your courses with the module handbook of your desired degree program. You can find the module handbook on the respective degree program page in the download area. Please also read the text next to the "Higher semester" button in the "Application information".

You will need certificates with grades for the courses you wish to have recognized. These will be checked after you have submitted your application. Unfortunately, we cannot give you any binding information in advance as to whether you can be placed in a higher semester. We therefore recommend that you apply for the first semester at the same time as the higher semester (if this is possible). If you only get a place for the first semester, you may still be able to have individual courses recognized.

  • Admission-free Bachelor's degree programs

Some Bachelor's degree courses are admission-free, which means that all applicants who submit all the necessary documents by the deadline are offered a place.

An exception to this are admission-free Bachelor's degree courses with an aptitude test.

Bachelor's degree programs with NC (restricted admission)

Some Bachelor's degree courses have restricted admission(NC degree courses), which means that there are more applicants than places. Applicants are selected on the basis of the grade in their higher education entrance qualification (HZB). (Waiting time is not taken into account. Applications for recognition of a case of hardship cannot usually be submitted). The threshold grade up to which admission is granted can only be determined retrospectively.

For NC degree programs, there is a foreigner quota (5% of places) for

    • foreign or stateless applicants who are not nationals of a member state of the European Economic Area (EEA for short) and who also
    • have not obtained their higher education entrance qualification in Germany or at a German school abroad.

Nationality is relevant for admission. If there are two nationalities and the quota for foreign applicants is being sought, only the non-German nationality may be stated!

EEA nationals and Bildungsinländer are treated equally to Germans in terms of admission law. This also applies to applicants with an IB diploma.

The admission and rejection notices are usually sent by e-mail by the Foundation for University Admission (hochschulstart.de) for a winter semester from the end of July to the end of August and for a summer semester from the end of January to the end of February.
