These degree programmes are (mainly) taught in English:

Please inform yourself about the required German language skills.

  • For the international Bachelor degree programmes, the language of instruction in the first semesters is English. A knowledge of German at A2 level is required, as German courses from B1 level onwards are a compulsory part of the curriculum. The aim is for students to have reached B2 level in German by the time they start their work placement semester. After the work placement semester, students can choose from courses taught in both German and English.

The international Master degree programmes can be studied entirely in English without any knowledge of German. However, a knowledge of German is very helpful in everyday life. We therefore recommend taking advantage of the free German language courses offered alongside your studies.

  • OTH stands for Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule. OTH Regensburg is a university of applied sciences. This means that practical relevance plays a central role in both teaching and research. For example, every bachelor degree programme includes a compulsory internship semester.

    • Winter semester (WiSe): 1 October to 14 March
    • Summer semester (SoSe): 15 March to 30 September

  • Students at German universities enjoy a great deal of freedom, but this freedom is also accompanied by responsibilities and a high degree of personal self-organisation. This means that everyone has to take care of many matters on one's own.

    • You must keep yourself informed, for example about deadlines and important matters such as exam registrations. Important sources of information include the OTH website, ELO courses and noticeboards at the faculties.
    • There are laws and regulations that you should be aware of, as they form the legal basis for your degree programme; these include, for example, the Study and Examination Regulations (SPO). You will find links to the most important documents on each degree programme page.
    • OTH Regensburg is a campus-based university. Attendance is compulsory for some modules, but not for others. However, even if attendance is not compulsory, it is generally a good idea to attend modules – both for the sake of your academic progress and for the social interaction.
    • The university offers a comprehensive range of advisory and support services, but it is your responsibility to make use of these services (e.g. those offered by the Career Service or psychosocial counselling services).
    • It is perfectly normal to have lots of questions when you are in a foreign country. If there is something you do not understand or something is unclear, please do not hesitate to ask! You will receive answers and help. Missing a deadline or failing to get the right information, in contrast, can have serious consequences.

  • There are no tuition fees at Bavarian universities.

However, all students must pay a semester fee of currently EUR 208 (as of winter semester 2026/2027) for each semester. The semester fee includes the RVV semester ticket and the contribution to the student union. For the first semester, the fee is due upon enrolment. For the following semesters, payment is due before the respective re-registration deadlines, which are published on our website.

For students from non-EU countries, OTH Regensburg charges a service fee  of EUR 500 for most English-language degree programmes. This fee is charged each semester in addition to the regular semester fee and must be paid upon enrolment or re-registration. It serves to expand the services necessary for the support and integration of international students in English-language degree programs at OTH Regensburg.

No service fee is charged for German-language degree programmes.
