Preparatory German Language Courses

OTH Regensburg works closely with the "Center for Language and Communication" (ZSK) at the University of Regensburg. The pre-study training programme offers university-specific foreign language training at levels B2 and B2+/C1. The aim of the course programme is to achieve the linguistic ability to study, proven by the "German Language Test for University Entrance" (Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang = DSH). The course placement is carried out by the ZSK. It depends on the language certificate submitted.

Courses in the summer semester 2026:

Course duration: April 15 to July 17, 2026
Class times: approximately Mon, Wed, Fri 8:30–11:45 a.m.; Tue, Thu 10:15 a.m.–1:45 p.m.
Total number of lessons: approx. 250
Costs: EUR 530 (plus any examination fees and costs for the textbooks used)
Registration deadline: 13 February 2026

In order to register for a course, please send these documents to the International Office of the OTH Regensburg via the online registration form:

VPD from uni-assist (certificate recognition) with direct university admission or admission to a Master's program at OTH Regensburg. Please apply for your VPD in good time! The processing at uni-assist can take 4-6 weeks or even longer.
Proof of German language proficiency, at least good B1 according to CEFR (Goethe, telc, TestDaF, ÖSD or onSET with at least 70 points) - information on the accepted certificates and course placement can be found on the ZSK website under "Placement".
Proof of payment of the EUR 530 course fee^* resp. for refugees a copy of the ID card (in this case no payment is necessary)

Please upload the documents in the registration form. You can also send the registration form without attachments and submit the documents by e-mail to anmeldung_df(at)oth-regensburg.de.

As soon as you have submitted all required documents, you will receive an informal email confirming your application, which includes useful information about the enrolment and further steps to take. (If you do not hear from us, please check your spam folder – we know from experience that our emails sometimes end up there.)

Please note that a semester fee must be paid each semester (EUR 201 in winter semester 2025/2026). It includes a semester ticket.

If you need a formal letter of confirmation (e.g. for your visa), please let us know. Please be aware that the letter can only be issued if the required documents for registration are completely submitted. For some countries (e.g. Iran), an admission is additionally required for the visa application. Only in this case you have to additionally apply for a study place - only for the visa. For most countries, however, a confirmation of German course attendance is sufficient. In this case please do NOT apply for your desired degree programme via the online application portal yet.

In addition to the courses at the ZSK, the Volkshochschule Regensburg (TestDaF) and some language schools, for example, also offer suitable German courses for a fee. On the website of the Federal Government you will find many online offers for learning German in the website of the Federal Governement for qualified professionals working in Germany.

* If you wish to cancel your registration, the following applies^:
- Up to 10 working days before the start of the course: the fee paid will be refunded minus an administration fee of 10 %.
- Less than 10 days before the start of the course: 50 % of the fee will be refunded.
- Later withdrawal: There is no entitlement to a refund of the cost contribution.
