Assessment projects

OTH Regensburg is participating in the Bavaria-wide Mahara Cloud, a collaborative project of the “Kompetenzzentrums Digitales Prüfen” at Munich University of Applied Sciences. The goal of the project is to provide a cross-institutional, cloud-based infrastructure for e-portfolio-supported teaching and assessment formats.

The Mahara Cloud was established as a central platform to offer universities a solution that relieves them of the technical and organizational burden of implementing competency-based assessment formats. This includes, in particular, the joint operation of the platform, cross-university support and exchange structures, as well as the use of shared resources such as templates, materials, and best practices. At the same time, administration remains decentralized, allowing participating universities to manage their own settings, roles, support structures, and legal requirements independently.

Through the cooperation with Munich University of Applied Sciences, synergies in the areas of operations, support, data protection concepts, and pedagogical development can be leveraged, and innovative assessment formats can be further developed at OTH Regensburg within the consortium.

Project duration: March 2026 – December 2028

OTH Regensburg is part of the joint project ii.oo - Implementing digital competence-oriented exams. The Center for Teaching and Learning supports lecturers in the didactic development and technical implementation of their good practices. The ii.oo project includes the redesign, further development, testing, implementation, results assurance and knowledge transfer of digital competence-oriented exams for the disciplines of business administration, STEM, social sciences and health. ii.oo is based on the state of research on the didactics and implementation of digital face-to-face and online exams and also integrates the experience gained during the corona semesters. Through a consistent constructive alignment and a change in attitude towards exams among students and lecturers, the quality of teaching is to be further improved and attempts at cheating significantly reduced.

Project duration: 01.08.2021 - 31.12.2025

Recap of the closing conference of the collaborative project “Implementing Digital Competence-oriented exams” (ii.oo) at Munich University of Applied Sciences

Since 2020, OTH Regensburg has been cooperating with Munich University of Applied Sciences to establish the digital examination system. EXaHM (Application-Oriented Digital Exam System at Munich University of Applied Sciences) is a secure environment that enables the use of third-party applications such as Excel, MATLAB or other specialist programs during exams. The students are in a kiosk mode so that only explicitly approved tools can be used. The aim of EXaHM is to make exams not only digital, but also competence-oriented. As the creation of legally compliant online exams is both technically and didactically demanding, the system is being developed step by step in cooperation with Munich University of Applied Sciences.
