Information on applying for the Master's degree programme in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (MEI)

A sufficient number of participants is a prerequisite for the start of this study programme. The standard period of study for full-time students is 3 semesters. 

(1) Qualification requirements

1) Applicants should hold a first degree in a relevant engineering or natural science course in which they will generally have been awarded 210 ECTS credits but not less than 180 credits after at least six semesters of theretical study. The Master commission decides on the relevance and/or equivalence of the degree and the equivalence of degrees obtained at universities outside of Germany in accordance with Art. 86 BayHIG.

2) Proof of the special qualification by an overall examination grade of "good" (2,5) or better in the degree under no. 1. Alternatively, the requirement is also fulfilled by proof that the final grade submitted in the first degree program falls into the group of the best 51% in the percentage ranking of overall examination grades in the degree program at the respective university. Please be aware that letters written by professors or lecturers regarding performance in single classes will not be considered. The certificate confirming the applicant’s completion of their first degree programme among the top 51% will have to be issued by a central university administration unit and must outline the total size of the respective cohort.

(2) Admission procedure

Applications must be submitted in electronic form. The documents must be uploaded to the OTH Regensburg application portal in due time and form.

Application deadlines:
For a winter semester: 01.05.-15.06.
For a summer semester: 15.11.-15.01.

These are cut-off deadlines. Late applications cannot be considered.

(3) Required documents

- Complete Bachelor's degree documents (certificate, transcript of records and details about the grading scheme)
- University entrance qualification (higher secondary school certificate, high school diploma or similar)
- Certificate of exmatriculation (if you previously studied at another German university) *
- Curriculum vitae
- Proof of sufficient German language skills (DSH 1 or equivalent)**, see application information --> International.

* If these documents are not yet available at the time of application, they can be submitted at the time of enrolment or, if received later, by the end of the first semester.
** Required before the start of the programme.

Important:
For certificates obtained abroad that were not issued in German or English, certified translations into German or English must also be submitted.

Please note that the teaching language of this programme is German. This means that you must submit a German proficiency certificate of the required level DSH-1 (C1) before the start of studies. It is not possible to start the programme with a lower proficiency or study it in English.
