Applying for entry to the Master's degree programme in Mathematics for Business and Industry

A sufficient number of participants is a prerequisite for the start of this study programme. The standard period of study for full-time students is 3 semesters.

 

1. Admission requirements


a) A successfully completed university degree in a relevant degree programme with at least six semesters of theoretical study and a workload of 210 ECTS credits (or at least 180 ECTS credits), or an equivalent domestic or foreign degree. All undergraduate mathematics degree programmes are considered relevant. The Master commission decides on the relevance and/or equivalence of the degree and the equivalence of degrees obtained at universities outside of Germany in accordance with Art. 86 BayHIG. If the degree certificate cannot yet be presented at the time of application, proof of the examinations taken to date must be submitted.

b) Proof that the above-mentioned university degree included at least 30 ECTS credits in mathematical core areas.

c) Proof of English language proficiency on the level CEFR B2.

d) Proof that the degree was completed with at least the German grade „2,7 or higher“. If this grade was not achieved, candidates can present additional proof from the Controller of Examinations that they graduated among the top 51% of their cohort.

 

2. Admission process

 

2.1 Application

All applications must be submitted electronically in due time and form through the online application portal of OTH Regensburg.

Application deadlines:
For a winter semester (start of studies 1 October): 1 May - 15 July
For a summer semester (start of studies 15 March): 15 November - 15 January

Applications received after the deadline cannot be considered.

2.2 admission procedure

The Master's degree programe in Mathematics for Business and Industry is a programme with restricted admission.

Admission will be decided based on a "local selection procedure". To demonstrate that they qualify for this programme, candidates must have completed a relevant Bachelor's degree (or similar international qualification) with at least the German grade „2,7 or higher“. If this grade was not achieved, candidates can present additional proof from the Controller of Examinations that they graduated among the top 51% of their cohort. Admission and selection will be decided solely based on the overall grade of the previous degree qualification. 

Please note that we will only accept your application if you can upload at least your provisional degree certificate and transcript of records in the portal before 5 August 2024. If you have completed your degree outside of Germany, we will also require the VPD from Uni-Assist before the same deadline.

Please note that the available places of study will be allocated after 6 August 2024. We can not issue any admission letters before this date under any circumstances. Depending on how quickly we are able to allocate all the available places of study, you may even get your admission letter later in August. Please consider this when planning your visa formalities.

You will receive your admission or rejection letter by e-mail after the first week of August.

 

3. Application documents:
 

- Bachelor's degree certificate + transcript of records
- If the final degree documents have not been issued yet: provisional transcript of records or degree documents
- If the Bachelor's degree was completed abroad: VPD from Uni-Assist * + APS certificate (for applicants from India)
- Higher education entrance qualification (higher secondary school certificate)
- If you studied in Germany before: exmatriculation certificate from previous university (if not available yet, it can be submitted during enrolment)
- Curriculum vitae
- Proof of sufficient English language proficiency (B2), for details please checkinformation about applications --> International.

Documents must be presented in German or English (or together with a certified translation into German or English).

* The VPD evaluation report is an essential part of your application. If you have not obtained your VPD yet, you must apply for it directly at Uni-Assist. Processing your VPD application can take up to 6 weeks, so make sure to apply early. If you have any questions about the status of your application for VPD, please contact uni-assist directly. The VPD process is separate from the application process at OTH Regensburg.
