The Research Commission
supports the strategic development of research activities at the university. It is made up of experienced professors from various disciplines and takes on central tasks such as selecting funding applications, appointing research professorships and organising and evaluating competitions. Thanks to its interdisciplinary composition, the committee contributes to the targeted further development of 0TH's research strategy and the promotion of innovative projects.
Tasks
The Research Commission supports the university management in the evaluation and selection of applications for research professorships as well as in internal competitions and pre-selections for research funding applications. After thorough examination, the committee makes recommendations for the university management's decision-making process. Thanks to its interdisciplinary and independent character, it guarantees a fair and objective selection and evaluation. Members of the commission are excluded from participating in the calls for proposals and are committed to neutrality and equal treatment. Examples of internal pre-selections and competitions are "Einstieg in die Forschung", HAW ForschungsAkzente, HAW ForschungsPraxis.
Appointment
The four members of the commission are appointed by the extended university management for a term of office of five years. In addition, the Women's Representative is a permanent member of the committee. It is chaired by the Vice President for Research and International Affairs, Oliver Steffens.
