On 23 April, OTH Regensburg welcomed a delegation from Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, who were visiting for a one-day trip as part of the ARTEMIS University Alliance. The delegation consisted of Terje Gravdal, Team Leader for Research-based Innovation; Janina Ramona Juranek, Senior Research Officer; Øyvind Drivenes, Research and Innovation Officer; and Hallstein Madsen, Research and Innovation Officer.
Insights into start-up support and technology transfer
The visit began with a tour of the OTH Regensburg Start-up Centre. Dr Dirk Sindersberger, Head of Operations, presented the centre, including the co-working spaces and the Maker Space, which is open to all OTH students and equipped with technical facilities for developing and testing ideas.
The afternoon’s programme included meetings with various departments at OTH Regensburg. The first stop was the Open Regional Campus (ORCa), represented by Dr Marcus Graf and Annalena Böck. As a joint initiative of OTH Regensburg and the district of Kelheim, ORCa promotes the transfer of knowledge and technology and connects the university specifically with businesses across the region.
A key feature is the quarterly online event “Pitch & Snack”. Here, researchers present their current projects in short, three-minute pitches and engage in direct dialogue with potential collaboration partners. At the same time, start-ups and companies are invited to outline their specific needs, thereby providing new impetus for joint developments. Both presenters and interested attendees are warmly welcome to the next “Pitch & Snack” event on 25 June 2026, which will focus on “Materials & Production”. If you are interested, the ORCa team would be delighted to hear from you at orca(at)oth-regensburg.de.
Discussion on research management
Another item on the agenda focused on research management: Dr Juliane Huber and Michaela Frint, research officers at the Centre for Research and Transfer (ZFT), provided insights into the organisation of research management at OTH Regensburg.
Visit to the Neustadt Technology Campus
The event concluded with a visit to the Neustadt Technology Campus on the Danube. There, Dr Andreas Kastenmeier, Managing Director of the Technology Campus, presented the activities in applied research as well as the collaboration with industry partners. A particular focus of the work lies on the topics of lightweight construction, fibre composite technology and materials simulation.
Despite its brevity, the visit provided an intensive and highly productive exchange.
It underscored the shared interest in further deepening cooperation within the ARTEMIS Alliance and offered numerous points of contact for future collaboration.
