Start-up HUB Eastern Bavaria: Working together to bring innovative ideas to market

How do innovative ideas become successful start-ups? The GründungsHUB Ostbayern (GHO) brings together the six universities in Eastern Bavaria to support students interested in starting a business and start-up teams on their journey towards self-employment. Through training programmes, personalised advice and cross-university networking initiatives, this collaborative project promotes entrepreneurial thinking and action. The experience gained and examples of best practice are intended to help further develop start-up support services and strengthen the innovative capacity of the Eastern Bavaria region.

What is your funded project?

The GründungsHUB Ostbayern (GHO) is a joint project involving the six universities in Eastern Bavaria. It serves as the central platform for anyone at these universities who wishes to think and act entrepreneurially. The GHO creates a strong network for students interested in starting a business, start-up talent and supporters. Through innovative training programmes, inspiring networking events and personalised advice, we foster bold ideas – and help bring them to market.

What excites you about the project?

Those in charge of the GründungsHUB Ostbayern are particularly inspired by the opportunity to see start-up teams and their ideas grow, as well as to actively support innovative projects. We value the collaboration with committed founders and the strong network spanning the region’s universities. It is particularly motivating to make a tangible contribution to the economic and social development of Eastern Bavaria.

How can insights from the project be applied in practice?

Findings and best-practice examples for events and support services are shared from the GHO partner universities with other higher education institutions. Furthermore, the start-ups themselves can use the experience gained through GHO’s support to drive their own innovation and start-up processes forward in a more targeted manner. The close cross-university networking of various stakeholders serves as a model for effective collaboration.
