Students were offered a wide range of support options on the way to entering thejob market. On the one hand, students were able to have inexpensive application photos taken by a professional photographer directly on campus. The Career Service staff also offered additional 45-minute slots for application portfolio checks. Katja Eckhardt from the OTH BRIDGE project provided slots in English language for international students.
In addition, employers and students were able to get to know each other in the ‘Career Speed Dating’ programme. In 12-minute conversations, the representatives of the participating employers and students had time to get to know each other. After 12 minutes on the dot, the bell sounded for the next ‘dating’ round, and the students each moved one place to the next employer. This meant that up to eight ‘dates’ were possible per student and employer. 36 students from various faculties used the event to explore their career options. 16 large and small employers from various sectors were delighted with the strong demand from students.
At the same time, a barbecue was organised in the courtyard of the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics in a relaxed atmosphere. This allowed all participating students and employers to continue their discussions, make new contacts and round off the event at a get-together.
The Career Service is part of the Student Lifecycle Center at the OTH Regensburg. The service centre supports students with counselling, orientation and networking services before they start their studies through to the transition to working life. The OTH BRIDGE project, which is part of the International Office, was set up to intensify such services, particularly for international students. OTH BRIDGE (Building Relations for International Degree-Seeking Students to German Employment) aims to offer international students pursuing a degree at the OTH Regensburg increased support throughout the entire student life cycle (before their studies, during their studies, during the transition to the German labour market) and to bring them into contact with companies from the region at an early stage.
CONNECTA e.V. is a student association that organises the annual CONNECTA company contact fair. The next fair will take place on 22-23 October 2025 at the OTH Regensburg campus. More than 250 exhibitors will present themselves in the 1000 square metre exhibition tent and in the buildings of the OTH Regensburg.
