Katja Meier, Managing Director of the Friends of OTH Regensburg e.V. and responsible for the university’s alumni network, warmly welcomed the guests: “I see many familiar faces, but also a few new ones. I’m delighted about that, as it shows that our events and our network are growing and remain vibrant.” In addition to networking, the Friends of OTH Regensburg support the university and, in particular, its students in a variety of ways.
Fascinating insights
Following the welcome, Philipp Hausner, Managing Director of SSV Jahn Regensburg and a long-standing member of the Executive Board of the Friends of OTH Regensburg e.V., provided exclusive insights into professional sport and highlighted how SSV Jahn, as a modern medium-sized enterprise, combines economic, social and sporting requirements: “On the one hand, all that matters is last weekend’s match; on the other, we are a medium-sized enterprise that needs a strategy,” he said, summing up the tension between these two aspects. The participants gained interesting insights into leadership, organisation and strategic developments in professional football. “Ambitious, down-to-earth, credible” – Philipp Hausner demonstrated how Jahn brings these values to life across its five business areas: Jahn Profis, Jahnschmiede, Jahn Initiativ, Jahn Fans and Jahn Business.
The subsequent stadium tour offered a glimpse behind the scenes of match operations. Areas that usually remain hidden from most visitors brought home the specific requirements and processes of a professional club.
During the closing networking session, which included snacks and drinks, there was plenty of time for one-to-one conversations, making new contacts and exchanging ideas within the alumni network.
The alumni get-together demonstrated once again just how valuable these encounters between the university, alumni and regional partners are. The combination of professional insights, exclusive information and personal interaction makes the OTH Regensburg alumni network a vibrant meeting place that extends far beyond students’ time at university, whilst also serving current students.
