Focus on female founders: The Female Founders Programme at OTH Regensburg

Mentoring, networking and research: this is how the Female Founders Programme supports female founders in practice.

Who is involved in your project?

Programme management Prof. Dr. Sevim Süzeroglu-Melchiors, project coordination Theresa Engl, M.A.

What is your research project about?

The OTH Regensburg Female Founders Programme stands for strengthening and increasing the proportion of female founders in start-ups at the university. In addition to a wide range of programmes to validate and develop their own start-up ideas, the support provided by mentors from business and science and networking in the start-up ecosystem at OTH Regensburg, especially in the Women Entrepreneurship Network, helps to strengthen the prospective female founders. The focus is also on research into women entrepreneurship and the female start-up scene.

What excites you about the project?

This programme stands out due to the content and measures in the start-up scene at OTH Regensburg that are specifically tailored to female founders and their needs. Women start up differently. The work with the prospective female founders, the collaboration in the network and start-up ecosystem, the female founders and their ideas - this is inspiring! The programme receives a lot of praise, recognition and appreciative feedback from network partners, partner universities, the start-up ecosystem and people from business and science. The enormous popularity shows how important and now indispensable the OTH Regensburg Female Founders Programme is.

How can findings from the project be applied in practice?

The content and measures of the OTH Regensburg Female Founders Programme are all designed with a practical orientation to support the prospective female founders during the duration of the programme and beyond for the successful implementation of the project. Theory and practice meet directly. After completion of the programme, the team continues to support the Female Founders as required, for example with training for further funding programmes or specialist support for the start-up project. Another pillar is the area of research in women entrepreneurship. The results should contribute to the further improvement of services and support for female founders.
