Beruflicher Werdegang

Prof. Dr. Chiara von Hollen-Pierobon hat im Fach Soziologie und Sozialforschung an der Universität Bielefeld und der Universität Trento (Italien) promoviert (2012) und im Fach Politikwissenschaft an der Universität Bielefeld habilitiert (2024). Ihre Forschung ist in der Politikfeldanalyse verankert und richtet sich insbesondere auf Zivilgesellschaft, gesellschaftliche Transformationen und internationale Zusammenarbeit, mit einem regionalen Schwerpunkt auf den Beziehungen zwischen der EU/Europa und Zentralasien. Weitere Arbeitsfelder umfassen politische Bildung, die Prävention von Extremismus und Radikalisierung sowie die Analyse von Resilienz, sozialem Kapital und nachhaltiger gesellschaftlicher Entwicklung.

Von 2022 bis 2024 war Chiara von Hollen-Pierobon DAAD-Gastprofessorin für Politikwissenschaft/Europäische Studien an der University of Washington in Seattle. Frühere Stationen umfassen Vertretungs- und Gastprofessuren an der Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg (2017-2018) und der University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur (2014). Zudem absolvierte sie Forschungsaufenthalte an der American University of Central Asia in Bischkek (2016), an der Deutsch-Kasachischen Universität in Almaty (2014 und 2018), an der Staatlichen Universität Sankt Petersburg (2010), an der University of California, Berkeley (2009) sowie an der University of California, San Diego (2007–2008). Darüber hinaus war sie in Lehr- und Forschungsfunktionen an der Europa-Universität Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder) sowie an der Kirgisischen Nationalen Universität nach Jusup Balasagyn (2021) tätig. Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt ihrer Arbeit liegt im internationalen Projektmanagement sowie in der Wissenschaftsdiplomatie. In den vergangenen Jahren hat sie multinationale Forschungs- und Bildungsprojekte in Russland und Zentralasien geleitet und koordiniert, die durch den Deutschen Akademischen Austauschdienst (DAAD), die Europäische Kommission und die VolkswagenStiftung gefördert wurden.

Neben ihrer akademischen Tätigkeit hat Prof. Dr. Chiara von Hollen-Pierobon als Beraterin, Trainerin und Expertin für zivilgesellschaftliche Organisationen, Stiftungen und Think Tanks, u. a. DVV International (Regionalbüro Zentralasien, Bischkek), Europe-Central Asia Monitoring (EUCAM, Groningen), European Neighbourhood Council (ENC, Brüssel), die OSZE-Akademie (Bishkek) sowie die Pestalozzi-Vereinigung / LEGATO-Verbund (Hamburg) gearbeitet. Hier unterstützten sie, und unterstützt weiterhin, Kapazitätsaufbau, Weiterbildung, wissenschaftliche Politikberatung und den Wissenstransfer zwischen Wissenschaft und Praxis.
