Our Research Profile

The research profile of the OTH Regensburg is characterized by a very broad spectrum of research content, which is not only developed using technical disciplines but is also closely connected to the fields of economics and social sciences. These are derived from global megatrends that move society.  Research topics at the OTH Regensburg also arise from the needs of regional, national and international companies and institutions or from political decisions and underlying circumstances. The five key topics - with the addition of the cross-sector areas of sensor technology and artificial intelligence/digitalisation - provide a thematic structure for this diversity.

Our key topics:

Research Units

The research activities of the OTH Regensburg are oriented towards our key topic areas and focus on the following research units:

Laboratories

Roughly 120 exceptionally well-equipped laboratories are available to researchers. Here you can find the laboratories of the faculties:

General Conditions for Research Projects

The research units and laboratories are the "where" and "how" - the "what" are the projects in which researchers work very specifically on scientific issues. To support them, the university is continuously working on improving these general conditions. These include a guideline to ensure good scientific practice, an open access policy that promotes free access to scientific findings, and support in ensuring gender equality throughout the course of a research project.
