Technology transfer centres

Knowledge and technology transfer centres disseminate research - in the literal sense of the word, as the facilities, which are managed by universities of applied sciences or technical universities, are primarily located in more rural regions. The facilities, usually referred to as technology campuses (TC) or technology transfer centres (TTZ), are used for application-related research and development and are technically oriented towards local companies. The Free State of Bavaria and the local authority each provide start-up funding for the building, equipment and staff.

TC Parsberg/Lupburg

Since 2019, OTH Regensburg and TH Deggendorf have been pooling their expertise in the fields of materials science, production technology and digitalisation in manufacturing at the Parsberg-Lupburg Technology Campus. The opportunities for cooperation are very diverse and range from industrial contracts with a duration of a few hours to multi-year research projects with international partners.
The network of companies is constantly being expanded by the Digital Start-up Centre Parsberg, operated by the town of Parsberg. The two universities can also provide advice and support in many areas. The spectrum ranges from the production of components for prototypes to support for development projects or assistance in the form of start-up grants.

TC Neustadt a. d. Donau

The Technology Campus Neustadt an der Donau focuses on research and development in the areas of cross-material lightweight construction as well as material and component simulation. The TC brings research and development right to the doorstep of the regional economy in the district of Kelheim and beyond, particularly for the aerospace, automotive, energy technology and special plant engineering sectors.
The existing laboratories for fibre composite technology under the direction of Professor Dr Ingo Ehrlich and the laboratory for numerical materials mechanics under the direction of Professor Dr Aida Nonn have been merged and expanded. As a result, a wide range of services and co-operation opportunities are now available. The first point of contact for those interested in co-operation is the operational managing director Dr Andreas Kastenmeier.

TC Kelheim "Hydrogen Cluster Danube"

The TC Kelheim "Hydrogen Cluster Danube", located at the harbour of Kelheim, is an innovative research institution of the OTH Regensburg. Under the scientific leadership of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hans-Peter Rabl, the team focuses on the development of technologies for the production, storage and, in particular, the utilisation of hydrogen and its derivatives. As a central point of contact for regional companies, the TC Kelheim offers a modular and dynamic test centre for investigating and developing various technologies, systems and components. Together with the site in Wörth-Wiesent, the TC Kelheim forms a strong foundation for future-oriented mobility and energy systems and, as a technology transfer centre (TTZ), promotes cooperation between science and industry.

TC Schwandorf

The TC Schwandorf has been in operation and under construction since spring 2024. It is managed by the alliance of OTH Regensburg and OTH Amberg-Weiden. The director is Dr Thomas Niehoff.

The TC Schwandorf is in particular a first point of contact for the district of Schwandorf in the areas of technology transfer, industrial research and further training for employees of regional companies. The focus is on the circular economy and sustainability.
The TC building is being constructed together with a start-up centre and, once completed, will also be a place for supporting start-ups. One of the aims of the TC Schwandorf is to become a driver of innovation for the regional economy.
