1. your doctorate is complete - what does that mean for you personally?
The successful doctorate marks the end of a long journey, with many ups and downs. I was able to learn a lot about myself, but also realise that it can be fun to dedicate yourself completely to a topic.
2 What is your dissertation about?
About the diffusion of carbon at the interface of titanium and steel during the hot pressing of these two substrates. The diffusion and reaction between carbon and titanium creates a thin layer of titanium carbide (TiC) at this interface. The process parameters that can be used to influence this layer and the thermodynamic principles on which the process is based were investigated. This process can be used, for example, to provide medical implants with a sealing-resistant layer.
3. what was a highlight or special experience in connection with your doctorate?
I enjoyed the excellent collaboration between the various institutes and universities and the people I got to know during this collaboration.
4. what plans do you have for your professional future?
I would like to remain true to research, but I would like to experience this in an industrial environment. In industrial research, the focus is sometimes different than in a university environment. I don't want to miss out on experiencing this difference in my professional career.
5. what tips can you give future doctoral candidates?
Everyone goes through ups and downs during their doctorate, but it's important to never lose sight of your goal and to believe in yourself.
6th Why did you choose OTH Regensburg for your doctorate?
Because I really enjoyed devoting myself to a topic that I was allowed to choose myself. The structures at OTH Regensburg gave me exactly the support I needed to be able to complete a doctorate.
