1. the doctorate is complete - what does that mean for you personally?
Achieving a goal that I set myself after completing my A-levels and the confirmation that anything is possible if you try.
2. what is your dissertation about?
It is about the contribution of individual behavioural changes or sufficiency to achieving ambitious climate protection targets. An energy system model was used to analyse the potential of sufficiency measures in terms of reducing energy demand, greenhouse gas emissions and economic costs in the German energy system. It also analysed which individual measures are most effective in driving forward the energy transition.
3. what was a highlight or special experience in connection with your doctorate?
There was actually no particular highlight or experience. However, I found it very special to work on a topic that also plays a major role in my private life.
4. what plans do you have for your professional future?
For my professional future, I am aiming for an academic career.
5. what tips can you give future doctoral candidates?
My advice is to document all work in writing in good time. The doctoral phase is long and it can happen that methods used in the past, calculations carried out or results obtained are not always clearly comprehensible later on. This can save you a lot of unnecessary work and you also already have initial text modules for your dissertation.
6 Why did you choose OTH Regensburg for your doctorate?
I have already completed my Bachelor's and Master's degree at OTH Regensburg and worked as a research assistant at the Research Centre for Energy Networks and Energy Storage (FENES). With Prof Michael Sterner as my supervisor, I was able to choose my own research topic and was very well supervised.
