The five pitches demonstrated the diverse ways in which research at OTH Regensburg can contribute to the design of sustainable living environments. Amongst other things, research projects were presented on sustainable mobility, hydrogen technology at ITZ-Süd, the use of natural fibres in bio-based composites, smart energy management solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises, and current approaches in building physics and building simulation.
M.A. Ulrike Scorna from the Institute for Social Research and Technology Assessment (IST) provided insights into research projects in the field of mobility. Dr.-Ing. Marcel Kaspar presented hydrogen technology at the Pfeffenhausen site and the ITZ-Süd, with its focus on hydrogen internal combustion engines. M.Sc. Jan Loos presented ‘NatureSTEP’, an innovative approach to natural fibres in biological and bio-based matrices. B.Eng. David Gschoßmann demonstrated how energy systems for SMEs and industrial enterprises can be efficiently planned and operated using mathematical optimisation models. Finally, M.Sc. Paul Schoplocher provided an insight into the research field of building physics and building simulation.
The diverse range of topics made one thing clear: sustainable living spaces are created where mobility, energy, materials and buildings are combined with innovative technologies. This is precisely where ‘Pitch & Snack’ comes in: through short pitches, the format brings research and practice together and creates space for new contacts, ideas and concrete collaborations.
