How does artificial intelligence work and how can it be used for your own applications in your company? Employees at Infineon's Regensburg site received well-founded theoretical and practical answers to these questions in the ‘Artificial Intelligence’ certificate course at OTH Regensburg. The training course took place for the second time in spring 2025 at the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics and culminated at the end of the year with the awarding of university certificates to the graduates.
The certificate course was developed by the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics and the Centre for Continuing Education and Knowledge Management (ZWW)at OTH Regensburg in collaboration with Infineon Technologies (responsible: Andrea Stich, Director Frontend Academy) and provided tailor-made, up-to-date AI content. From the basics of image processing, the Python programming language and the PyTorch program library, to machine learning, sequence data processing, machine learning operations and industrial applications – in the five-day course, participants acquired in-depth knowledge and skills in the field of artificial intelligence. Now the twelve graduates can look forward to receiving their university certificates.
The aim is to build on the success of the programme: in September 2025, the third round of the certificate course took place under the direction of Dean Prof. Dr. Frank Herrmann – continuing a strong partnership between OTH Regensburg and Infineon Technologies. For the first time, employees from other Infineon locations and external participants from other companies also took part in this round.
Next year, the part-time university certificate in artificial intelligence will enter its fourth round. The course is aimed at people with a university degree and programming experience. People without a university background but with technical vocational training can continue their education in machine learning on a part-time basis with the AI-tech university certificate. Registration for the start of the certificate course on 23 January 2026 is currently still open.
The ZWW offers tailor-made in-house training courses for companies on request. The part-time qualification programmes transfer the latest knowledge from research and teaching to the corporate landscape of the region. With the ZWW as a partner, companies drive innovation through further training and promote high-potential employees from within their own ranks.
