Around 40 participants from the worlds of business, academia and professional practice gathered at the university on 8 May 2026 to engage in a concise and practical discussion on the topic “From the pressure to transform to the ability to transform – the key to successful business development”.
Under the motto “Evening Knowledge”, the event series combines academic insights with concrete practical experience, enabling professionals to continue their education and network after work.
Following a welcome address by Sandra Bauer from the ZWW and Janika Zelmer from the Bavarian Centre for Innovative Teaching (BayZiel), Dr Kendra Pöhlmann from the Faculty of Business and Management at OTH Regensburg spoke about successful change processes in companies.
How to achieve harmonious collaboration
Dr Pöhlmann made it clear that new strategies or digital tools alone are not enough to bring about successful change. Rather, what matters most is how well companies and employees can cope with uncertainty, change and conflicting demands.
Dr Pöhlmann explained how transformation competence can be systematically developed and embedded within organisations. She compared change within companies to an orchestra, where only the harmonious interplay of all participants leads to a successful performance: “To play a symphony of transformation, the functions of an organisation must work together in a coordinated manner.”
Dr Ruth Nürnberger from Brückner Maschinenbau GmbH then explained how such change processes can be implemented in day-to-day business operations. Drawing on practical experience, she outlined the challenges that arise and how companies can address them.
The numerous questions from the audience demonstrated the high level of interest in the topic. During the subsequent get-together, participants took the opportunity to continue their discussions.
OTH Regensburg expands its continuing education programme
The topic of transformation competence is being firmly established within the ZWW’s continuing education programme. Together with Dr Pöhlmann, the ZWW is currently developing a concept for a new micro-credential. Furthermore, interested companies also have the option of requesting a bespoke in-house training programme.
