OTH Regensburg has once again achieved excellent results in the latest university ranking by the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE). In the evaluated Bachelor's degree programmes Business Management, Business Informatics, Social Work and International Relations and Management, the university scored highly both in the students' assessments and in key factual indicators. It is among the top group in many areas.
The CHE University Ranking is published in the ZEIT Study Guide 2026/27 and online on HeyStudium. It combines student evaluations with objective data on study programmes, teaching, research and practical relevance and is considered the most comprehensive university comparison in the German-speaking world. The general study situation is presented using a five-star scale, with five stars being the optimum.
Practical relevance as a consistent strength
A key result: contact with professional practice is ranked in the top group in all degree programmes. This confirms OTH Regensburg's consistent practice-orientation and makes it one of the best universities in this criterion across all universities in the CHE Ranking 2026. Overall, the ratings reflect the high quality of the study conditions, with almost all indicators achieving very good values.
Support at the beginning of the degree programme is particularly positive: OTH Regensburg is among the best in the Information Systems programme. Business Informatics students also rate their study conditions positively across the board, from the organisation of studies and support to the general study situation. The student ratings for Business Management are also very high across the board. From the range of courses on offer to the learning and working spaces to the support for stays abroad, all scores are in the green zone.
The Social Work degree programmes are above average in almost all categories in the current ranking. The general study situation is rated excellent with 4.2 out of 5 points and the range of courses with 4.0 points. The Faculty of Social and Health Sciences is also very far ahead in terms of support from lecturers and support during the degree programme.
"We are delighted about the very good assessment of the Social Work degree programme by our students and see this as an incentive to improve our range of courses even further. We are particularly pleased about the very good assessment of the breadth of the courses on offer and the expertise of our lecturers," says Dean Prof Dr Nicolas Schöpf. The developments in the area of digital teaching elements are also very pleasing, as they are rated better than the average for all universities and, according to the Dean, offer further potential for continuous improvement.
Research prospects including doctorates
In addition to teaching, OTH Regensburg also impresses with research-related indicators: In the Business Informatics degree programme, it ranks among the top group in terms of third-party funding per professorship and (cooperative) doctorates. Social Work also achieves top results in the area of doctorates. This means that students benefit from attractive opportunities to continue their academic work.
Prof. Dr Ralph Schneider, President of OTH Regensburg, emphasises: "Our students confirm that they feel they are in very good hands at OTH Regensburg, both professionally and personally. The close integration of study, practice and research, including doctoral opportunities at our university, is particularly important to us. The fact that we do so well in the CHE ranking shows this: We offer an environment in which talent can develop optimally."
