A visible symbol of innovation and connectivity: the new ORCa logo unveiled for the first time in Kelheim

The new logo of the Open Regional Campus (ORCa) was unveiled to the public for the first time as a symbol of the close ties between science, business and society in the Kelheim district.

In addition to District Administrator Martin Neumeyer, the event was attended by the Open Regional Campus’s transfer manager, Dr Moritz Bauer, project officer Annalena Böck, and the district’s economic affairs officer, Sandra Schneider.

With its new visual identity, the Open Regional Campus not only gains a modern look but also further strengthens its presence in the region. The flag in front of the District Office symbolises what ORCa stands for: openness, networking and a shared commitment to driving local innovation.

ORCa as a driving force for regional innovation

The Open Regional Campus is a joint initiative of Kelheim District and OTH Regensburg. As a cross-disciplinary platform, ORCa specifically promotes the transfer of knowledge and technology and brings businesses together with academic expertise. The aim is to develop practical solutions, drive innovation and strengthen the region’s competitiveness in the long term.

District Administrator Martin Neumeyer, one of the project’s founding fathers, emphasised the network’s importance for the region:

“ORCa gives us the opportunity to intensify and further develop economic support for regional businesses in a targeted manner. The close cooperation with OTH Regensburg is a key factor in our success: through this collaboration between academia and industry, we create direct access to knowledge, innovation and talent – thereby strengthening the long-term viability of our district.”

Neumeyer is regarded as one of the key driving forces behind the creation of the Open Regional Campus, which was officially launched in 2024 and has been growing steadily ever since. The project sees itself as a model campus that facilitates access to research, talent and innovative technologies for companies across all sectors, thereby unlocking new development potential.

The flag-raising ceremony therefore marks far more than just the unveiling of a new logo: it symbolises ORCa’s growing visibility and significance in the district of Kelheim. At the same time, it underlines the commitment to further intensify the exchange between the university, businesses and society, and to work together on solutions for the challenges of the future.

With ORCa, innovation in Kelheim is not just conceived – it is made visible.
