On the initiative of the City of Regensburg, a delegation from Regensburg visited the city of Linz to discuss prospects and strategies for future-oriented topics such as energy and artificial intelligence (AI), to identify new synergies and to initiate collaborations.
The event brought together leading experts from the worlds of business and academia. Alongside representatives from the city administrations of both locations, the Linz side was represented by, amongst others, the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, Johannes Kepler University, the Software Competence Centre Hagenberg (scch), and the companies NXAI and danube dynamics. The Regensburg delegation included risecon GmbH, Synnotech AG, the Regensburg Energy Agency and staff from the Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence (RCAI) at OTH Regensburg.
In the field of AI in particular, a wide range of use cases were presented, highlighting common ground and providing new impetus for future research activities. One of the highlights was the exchange with NXAI: The laboratory led by Prof. Dr Sepp Hochreiter at Johannes Kepler University Linz developed the xLSTM architecture – an alternative to Transformer networks. The TiRex models are particularly well-suited to zero-shot predictions on embedded devices.
