Prof. Dr Claus Koss appointed to the Auditors’ Examination Board

The professor at OTH Regensburg will be involved in the chartered accountant examination in future and will incorporate the latest developments within the profession directly into his teaching.

Prof. Dr Claus Koss of OTH Regensburg has been appointed to the examination board for the chartered accountant examination. He thus takes on a role of great responsibility within a key qualification process for the profession. For OTH Regensburg, this appointment reinforces the close integration of teaching and professional practice in the fields of taxation and auditing.

The Chartered Accountant Examination is one of the most demanding professional examinations in Germany. Every year, several thousand candidates sit the exam.

Prof. Dr Koss has been a registered tax adviser since March 2000 and a chartered accountant since May 2006. For many years, he has been incorporating his practical experience into his teaching at OTH Regensburg. Through his involvement on the examination board, he gains further insights into current developments and the requirements of the profession.

“Our students acquire many of the technical fundamentals required for the chartered accountant examination whilst still studying,” says Prof. Dr Koss. “Serving on the examination board enables me to incorporate current developments directly into our teaching. This benefits our students.”

Alongside his new role, Prof. Dr Koss is actively involved in the Working Group on Accounting and Auditing for Non-Profit Organisations at the Institute of Public Auditors in Germany (IDW). This body develops recommendations and standards for the accounting and auditing of associations, foundations, non-profit companies and non-profit public sector organisations.

This appointment underlines the professional recognition Prof. Dr Koss enjoys within the profession and, at the same time, strengthens OTH Regensburg’s profile as a practice-oriented centre of education for tax consultancy and auditing.
