This year’s ‘Stadtradeln’ event, which ran from 16 May to 5 June, could hardly have been a closer contest. Right up to the very end, the 173 active cyclists from OTH Regensburg were locked in a neck-and-neck race with the Schaeffler team, covering 40,285 kilometres – around 5.3 per cent of the total 765,189 kilometres cycled collectively by all 3,060 participants in Regensburg.
The results are impressive: 3,199 journeys, 40,285 kilometres and a calculated reduction of 6,607 kilograms of CO₂. In doing so, OTH Regensburg is not only contributing to climate protection, but also demonstrating the importance it attaches to sustainability and environmentally conscious mobility.
The weekly updates on the internal rankings added to the excitement. Whilst Gernot Maurer led the individual rankings in the first week and D.R. took the lead in the second, Valentin Schaller rose to the top in the third week. In the overall standings, Gernot Maurer ultimately came out on top with 1,623 kilometres. Valentin Schaller (1,560 kilometres) and Johanna Kolbeck (1,096.7 kilometres) followed in second and third place respectively.
Within the university, too, various teams competed fiercely for every kilometre. Among the eleven sub-teams, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology took first place with 8,254.7 kilometres. They were followed by the Administration with 4,055.3 kilometres and the Faculty of Civil Engineering with 3,914.4 kilometres.
