OTH Regensburg is one of Bavaria’s most successful universities when it comes to securing Erasmus+ funding. For the 2026 funding year, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has awarded OTH Regensburg a total of 1.62 million euros for international mobility programmes. This places OTH Regensburg sixth in the Bavarian-wide ranking of all universities and higher education institutions, and makes it the highest-ranked university of applied sciences in the Free State of Bavaria.
The funding enables study and work placements abroad, as well as teaching and professional development placements for university staff. At the same time, it strengthens international cooperation and promotes joint education and research projects.
“This top ranking underlines the high priority given to internationalisation at OTH Regensburg,” says Prof. Dr Oliver Steffens, Vice-President for International Affairs. “Erasmus+ funding provides students and staff with valuable international experience and strengthens our global partnerships. Projects such as our European university alliance ARTEMIS make an important contribution in this regard.”
The substantial funding reflects OTH Regensburg’s strong international focus. With around 230 partner universities worldwide and a clear internationalisation strategy, the university creates a wide range of opportunities for international experiences and intercultural exchange.
The largest funding programme for education, youth and sport in Europe
The EU’s Erasmus+ education programme is the largest funding programme for education, youth and sport in Europe. It stands for exchange, international cooperation and the idea of an open, united Europe. Since its launch in 1987, more than 17 million people have taken part in Erasmus+ – including over a million students from German universities.
In Germany, funding for mobility schemes at universities is administered and allocated by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
