More than 160 names now appear on the donor steles in front of the library and cafeteria building at OTH Regensburg. On Friday, 12 December 2025, another name was added: Irlbacher Blickpunkt Glas GmbH from Schönsee. With an additional donation of 5,000 euros, the family-owned company is supporting the foundation for the promotion of OTH Regensburg and thus directly benefiting the university's students.
Gert Wölfel, founder and long-time driving force behind the foundation, and foundation chairman Dr Bernd Waffler were particularly pleased about this. For more than two decades, the foundation has been working to attract supporters for OTH Regensburg. It didn't take much persuasion to convince Irlbacher. "I completed my bachelor's degree in business and management at OTH Regensburg this year during the summer semester, and my sister is currently studying industrial design at OTH Regensburg. For us, this closes the circle. When we bring business and education together, it creates added value for both sides," says Ines Irlbacher, who came to the university with her sister Anna Irlbacher for the unveiling of the new sign. The family-run group of companies produces high-tech flat glass solutions for the global market and relies on new technologies to keep resource consumption and environmental emissions in production as low as possible.
The vice-presidents of OTH Regensburg, Prof. Dr. Carina Braun and Prof. Dr. Birgit Rösel, thanked the family for their support, which, among other things, promotes study abroad programmes for students as well as further education and training opportunities.
The new sign was manufactured by Stahl Lasertechnik in Wackersdorf, with each letter individually crafted to a high standard, reported Dr Bernd Waffler. He has already announced that further names will be added to the steles in the foreseeable future.
