Exchange semester

To the Indian Ocean with an Erasmus scholarship

8,923 km away from OTH Regensburg is the French island of La Reunion. This makes it the southernmost point of the EU and the furthest destination that students can reach in an exchange semester with Erasmus funding.

Prof. Dr. Thomas Groll and Prof. Dr. Christian Dach from the OTH Regensburg (Faculty of Business and Management) visited the IUT (Institut Universitaire de Technologie) of the Université de la Reunion to prepare the first student exchange between the two very similar technical universities. The exchange is facilitated by the fact that the semester calendars and course content in the field of business administration are very similar.

In the city of St. Pierre, Professors Groll and Dach were warmly welcomed by Yazid Alibhaye, the head of the “Techniques de Commercialization” faculty, and were able to introduce OTH Regensburg to over 120 IUT students. They also gave guest lectures on the topics of inbound and social media marketing.

OTH students with a good knowledge of French from the Business Administration, Business Management or International Relations & Management degree programs will have the opportunity to apply in autumn 2025 for the summer semester 2026. As part of an Erasmus scholarship, students will receive a flat-rate flight allowance and monthly support currently amounting to around €600. “La Reunion is not only an exciting destination for our students due to its location and impressive nature, but above all a prime example of peaceful and equal coexistence between different cultures and religions,” says Prof. Dach.
