Jobwalk Regensburg 2026: featuring the Science Bench and plenty of fruitful discussions

OTH Regensburg attracted a large number of interested visitors at the Jobwalk with its diverse range of opportunities.

Under bright sunshine, OTH Regensburg made a strong impression at Jobwalk Regensburg, showcasing itself as an attractive employer and academic partner in the region. A particular highlight was the Science Bench featuring Prof. Dr Carina Braun, whose session “Want to become a professor? Take the 5-minute check!” Her conclusion on this: “The Science Bench shows just how valuable direct exchange is. Many people have the potential to become professors – they just need the right information and some initial guidance. Formats like the Jobwalk bring science to where the people are.”

The new Lord Mayor, Dr Thomas Burger, also stopped by the OTH Regensburg Science Bench during his tour of the Jobwalk. His visit underscored the close connection between urban society, academia and regional development.

Around the Science Bench, interested visitors engaged in conversation with Prof. Braun and staff from OTH Regensburg: discussing career prospects in academia, the variety of career paths at universities, and the role of OTH as a modern employer offering a wide range of fields of work. The low-threshold 5-minute check offered a quick overview of formal requirements, career stages and personal skills on the path to a professorship. The Science Bench took place as part of the STADTnah series, organised in collaboration with the City of Regensburg.

At the same time, OTH Regensburg presented itself at its own stand with information on PhD programmes, academic careers and entry opportunities in research, administration and technology. Many visitors took the opportunity to find out about vacancies, qualification pathways and the working culture at the university.

Jobwalk 2026 was a resounding success for OTH Regensburg. The combination of direct interaction, a visible presence in the city centre and the dialogue-oriented format of the Science Bench strengthened the university’s profile as an innovative employer, research partner and open institution right in the heart of the city.
