Healthy sitting – symposium at OTH Regensburg

Sitting is an integral part of our everyday lives: from school days to the workplace and home office, to travelling in the car. At the same time, it poses a growing health risk. The latest DKV report shows that only two percent of Germans live a completely healthy lifestyle, while the amount of time spent sitting is increasing dramatically. However, sitting is an integral part of today's service society, and instead of offering general tips such as ‘more exercise in everyday life’, the symposium addresses the root of the problem: it presents concrete, scientifically based ways of making sitting healthy.

Over two days, renowned speakers will shed light on the many aspects of sitting at the ‘Healthy Sitting’ symposium organised by the Orthopaedics and Ergonomics Research Centre at OTH Regensburg. The main focus will be on situational and behavioural prevention and on new orthopaedic and ergonomic developments that can prevent health problems caused by incorrect sitting.

Day 1 (18 September 2025):

Dynamic sitting in vehicles: from commercial vehicles to automated private transport and aviation. A special highlight will be the keynote speech by rally legend Walter Röhrl, who will provide insights into the demands of his workplace in a rally car.

Day 2 (19 September 2025):

Static sitting at a desk with topics such as ergonomics in the office workplace, prevention, active sitting, the latest innovations in occupational health management and ergonomic concepts for the gaming sector. Minimum standards for the home office will also be discussed. This is a topic that is becoming increasingly important in view of the increase in remote working in today's world.

When? Thursday, 18 September, from 12:30 p.m. and Friday, 19 September 2025, from 8:30 a.m.

Where? OTH Regensburg, Lecture Hall D 002, Galgenbergstraße 30, 93053 Regensburg
