The event began with a focus on getting to know one another and networking. This led to initial conversations between the new staff members and fostered a greater awareness that they are not just part of a single organisational unit, but part of a larger whole: OTH Regensburg. The university management then followed this with an overview of “OTH Regensburg – yesterday, today and tomorrow”. President Prof. Dr Schneider made a heartfelt appeal to the new colleagues: “Ask questions, but also challenge what you are told. And: get involved.” Mr Spielbauer, Chancellor of OTH Regensburg, used the organisational chart to explain the structure and organisation of the university.
The HR department then provided information on practical work-related topics such as time recording, training opportunities, and internal services designed to support a successful work-life balance on the university campus. The event was rounded off effectively by a presentation of the Finance department by Mr Albert Hammerschmid, as well as information from the Staff Council, presented by the current Staff Council Chair, Petra Knoch.
Once again, the campus rally was a particular highlight: in small groups, the new staff members explored the campus, discovered key facilities and expanded their knowledge of OTH Regensburg in a fun way. Special thanks go to our partners who provided such fantastic support for the campus rally: the Family Office, the Teaching and Learning Support Centre, the Green Office and the President’s Office.
The positive feedback from participants confirms that Welcome Day has established itself as a valuable element in the onboarding process and will remain an integral part of the induction at OTH Regensburg in the future.
