OTH Regensburg’s concrete canoe team celebrates its successes

In the Netherlands, the men’s team took first place in the 200-metre race. The women’s team came third at the regatta in Brandenburg an der Havel.

The OTH Regensburg concrete canoe team took part in the Concrete Canoe Regatta in Twente, the Netherlands, from 5 to 7 June 2026, and in the 20th German Concrete Canoe Regatta in Brandenburg an der Havel. The aim of taking part was to test the concrete canoes – which they had designed and built themselves – under competitive conditions and to compete against teams from other universities.

In various sporting and technical disciplines, the students were able to demonstrate their skills, creativity and team spirit. We are particularly pleased with the numerous achievements and successes, including first place in the men’s 200-metre race in the Netherlands and third place in the women’s 200-metre race in Germany. Furthermore, the team was awarded the prize for the best theme in the Netherlands.

Alongside the sporting successes, the regatta offered a valuable opportunity to forge new contacts with students from other universities, exchange experiences and gather fresh ideas for future projects. From OTH Regensburg’s perspective, this was a particular highlight of this year’s German Concrete Canoe Regatta. Friendships were forged with students from ETH Zurich, the universities of Munich and Regensburg, right through to Kiel and Twente. Taking part also strengthened team spirit and enabled the students to successfully represent OTH Regensburg on the international stage.

Thanks to the financial and material support of numerous sponsors, participation in the regattas was free of charge for all students. The students returned to Regensburg with a wealth of new experiences, valuable contacts, several awards and many wonderful memories.
