102 Germany Scholarships awarded at OTH Regensburg

At a ceremony held in the Josef Stanglmeier Lecture Hall on 26 November 2025, OTH Regensburg awarded a total of 102 students with the Germany Scholarship. This year, the funding amounts to €367,200, half of which is provided by private donors and half by the federal government.

Young people who study with passion, get involved and take on responsibility: they were the focus of the Germany Scholarship award ceremony, together with the sponsors who make these successes possible.

With this in mind, Prof. Dr. Carina Braun, Vice President for Appointments and Student Lifecycle Management, welcomed the guests and expressed her admiration for the sustainable development of the scholarship programme at OTH Regensburg. ‘Who would have thought 14 years ago that the Germany Scholarship would develop such momentum at our university? The fact that we are able to award 102 scholarships today is thanks to the outstanding commitment of the business community, society and our region. They all provide not only financial support, but also prospects, trust and a future,’ said Vice President Braun.

45 sponsors support students from all eight faculties

A total of 45 sponsors, including companies, social institutions, foundations and private individuals, contributed €183,600 this year, which the federal government will double. The diversity of the donors reflects the broad profile of the university: from architecture and design to social and economic sciences to engineering.

Prof. Dr. Braun also emphasised the importance of the Deutschlandstipendium's regional roots. The funding not only strengthens the students, but also Eastern Bavaria as a centre of science and business. The selection committee did not have an easy task: 386 applications from all eight faculties were submitted and reviewed based on performance, commitment, personal background and social criteria.

During the ceremony, one scholarship recipient expressed her gratitude to the guests on behalf of all scholarship recipients. She emphasised how much the scholarship provides security, strengthens belief in one's own abilities and makes it possible to combine studies with voluntary work. In addition, the scholarship opens up valuable contacts with fellow students and sponsors and creates a network that extends far beyond the period of study.

The Germany Scholarship is a model of success

Another highlight of the programme was the welcoming address by Dr Bernd Waffler, Chairman of the Board of the Foundation for the Promotion of OTH Regensburg, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. He emphasised the importance of close links between the university and the regional economy and praised the Germany Scholarship as a successful model that strengthens young talent and enables companies to establish contact with future skilled workers.

Following the presentation of the certificates, a joint standing reception provided an opportunity for personal exchanges between scholarship holders and their sponsors – a hallmark of the event that strengthens the networking of all participants in the long term.
