On 30 June 2025, the ZFT Research Day offered a varied programme with a mix of workshops and information events at OTH Regensburg. This was followed by a get-together on the 4th floor of the administration building, where the internal research community and interested members of OTH Regensburg exchanged ideas in a collegial, relaxed atmosphere over shared catering.
From the morning into the evening, there was the opportunity to attend exciting presentations on topics relating to research and research support. The day began with a look behind the scenes of digitalisation at ZFT. One of the most important areas of the ZFT is the digitalisation of research management, which uses a wide range of automated tools such as HISinOne, CRM and SharePoint to keep the university up to date at all times. ZFT has been working intensively on the digitalisation of research management since 2019.
This was followed by a programme item with Dr Andreas Kastenmeier, Managing Director of Technologie Campus Leichtbau und Werkstoffsimulation, who provided valuable insights into the acquisition, application and implementation of funding projects in his field report. Using the example of TC Neustadt an der Donau, experiences with funding projects, funding applications and calls for funding were presented using concrete examples and statistics.
Another highlight of the day was the "Lunch Break with FDM@OTH@. "The Research Survival Game aims to develop an understanding of the opportunities, requirements and best practices in relation to open access and research data management through playful learning," said Lilly Zirngibl from the University Library, who led this part of the programme and is responsible for research data management in the FDM@OTH project at OTH Regensburg.
Later in the day, Prof. Dr Oliver Steffens, Vice President for Research and International Affairs, and Dr Marcus Graf, Managing Director of the ZFT, reported on the latest developments and figures relating to research at OTH Regensburg at "ZFT aktuell". Ute John-Unterburger, Managing Director of the "Open Regional Campus" project, presented the aims and content of this endeavour. Lilly Zirngibl, University Library and FDM@OTH employee, also presented the diverse possibilities of research data management at the university. In addition to a comprehensive overview of current developments, the programme also covered future plans in the field of research at OTH Regensburg.
Another item on the programme was provided by Dr Sabine Fütterer-Akili, Managing Director of the Graduate Centre, who provided interesting information on the subject of doctoral studies at OTH Regensburg. At this event, the Graduate Centre provided information about doctoral opportunities at OTH Regensburg and gave an overview of current developments at doctoral centres with their own doctoral rights.
The event concluded with the discussion round "Energy research showcase: BlinKo power factor correction reactor - to the point!", which was moderated by Anna Tommek, Managing Director of the Regensburg Centre of Energy and Resources (RCER). Current issues and new ideas from the field of energy research were exchanged in a collegial atmosphere.
In the evening, the ZFT met with guests from the OTH Regensburg research community for a relaxed exchange over a joint catering. With a view of Regensburg in summer temperatures from the balcony on the 4th floor of the administration building, discussions on the day's topics were deepened and new contacts were made.
