Research in the Fields of the Future Regensburg Centers

Regensburg Center

The collaboration between researchers across the boundaries of faculties, disciplines and laboratories - that is the core of the Regensburg Centers (RC). With these centers, the OTH Regensburg has moved to the top of its class by demonstrating its concentrated research competence in the important fields of the future since 2012. Backed by an academic directorate and an executive office, they are also distinguished by their particular relevance for the research profile of our university - the most recent example of this is the Regensburg Center for Artificial Intelligence.

RCAI

Regensburg Center for Artificial Intelligence

The Regensburg Center for Artificial Intelligence (RCAI) promotes interdisciplinary cooperation in the field of research and application of artificial intelligence (AI). The RCAI aims to develop significant contributions to comprehensive and sustainable research, testing, establishment and application of AI concepts and solutions. The consideration of ethical aspects ensures that these are beneficial to people and the society as a whole. Potential applications are derived from regional needs and international developments and are aligned with the key topic areas of the OTH Regensburg. The RCAI focuses on the fields of architecture, construction, electrical engineering, health, computer science, mechanical engineering, mathematics as well as human resources and social services.

RCBE

Regensburg Center of Biomedical Engineering

The Regensburg Center of Biomedical Engineering (RCBE) coordinates and promotes interdisciplinary research in the field of healthcare technology, focusing especially on the areas of medical informatics and medical engineering. Their aim is to support the medical and healthcare sectors with fundamental research, prevention, diagnosis, therapy, care and networking and to provide assistance with scientific training programmes. Since its founding, the RCBE has successfully combined the biomedical expertise of the University of Regensburg with the engineering and medical informatics competence of the OTH Regensburg. Joint research and development projects are of particular importance.

RCER

Regensburg Center of Energy and Resources

The Regensburg Center of Energy and Resources (RCER) bundles the activities of the OTH Regensburg and regional businesses in the strategic field of "Energy and Resources". The RCER promotes the networking of various divisions of energy research both within the OTH Regensburg and with external institutions and is a partner in securing further cooperations and research projects. Other focal points include knowledge-sharing and the transfer of technology pertaining to science, business, society and politics. Currently, for example, we are developing new research approaches for the use of hydrogen technology in the areas of energy storage and mobility.
