together

These are the Campus Friends!

They exchange ideas, do things together and support one another – that is the idea behind the ‘Campus Friends’ group, which is based at OTH Regensburg. In this way, students forge contacts around the world whilst still at university and get to know fellow students from other countries and cultures.

From games evenings and karaoke nights to day trips

Campus Friends offer a wide range of activities, spread evenly throughout the year, and all students at OTH Regensburg are truly welcome. Events range from evening ‘Cake Breaks’ offering sweet treats during the ‘Long Night of Learning’, to the ‘City Rally’ at the start of the semester, the ‘Online Game Hangout’ and the annual cultural evening marking the end of Ramadan, right through to day trips to must-see destinations such as the Danube Gorge, Lake Chiemsee or Neuschwanstein Castle.

But that’s by no means all. For just as diverse as the international community on the OTH Regensburg campus is, so too is the programme varied – and, above all, brimming with ideas.

The ‘International Campus Friends’ at OTH Regensburg are now simply known as ‘Campus Friends’. Why? Because the aim is for all students at OTH Regensburg to feel included and able to get involved.

A culture of welcome in action: the buddy programme

Another great idea is the Campus Friends’ buddy programme, which aims to provide individual support to international exchange students over a three-day period: through a friendly chat, practical tips and small outings. This could include a trip together to the Walhalla, a visit to a café in the World Heritage Old Town, or personal tips on the campus and what you absolutely mustn’t miss in Regensburg.

Anyone who is sociable, available during the relevant period and has a flexible schedule can get in touch and will be assigned as a buddy to one of the exchange students. The Buddy Programme is just one example among many and a wonderful initiative through which students at OTH Regensburg actively promote a vibrant culture of welcome and foster international and cross-cultural cooperation. The fact that this consistently leads to exciting encounters and even genuine friendships across national borders is enriching: both for the students and for OTH Regensburg itself.
