Traffic sign of justice at OTH Regensburg

At the OTH Regensburg, during the summer semester, a series of changing road signs will draw attention to social issues and provide food for thought on the subject of fair coexistence.

Since the start of the 2026 summer term, a road sign for fairness has been displayed in front of the OTH Regensburg refectory.

Together, the Green Office and Studierendenwerk Niederbayern Oberpfalz (STWNO) have erected the first sign as a symbol of respectful and fair coexistence on campus.

The project

The Road Signs of Justice are a four-year art project by Johannes Volkmann, in collaboration with the Wertebündnis Bayern, the Staatstheater Nürnberg, the Menschenrechtsbüro Nürnberg, the Goethe-Instituts in Kyiv, Athens, Bucharest, Tirana and Madrid, the Amt für internationale Beziehungen Nürnberg, the Projektgruppe Liechtenstein (ASSITEJ, aha, Junges Theater, Stiftung Sovort), the Arnsberg District Administration and Regens Wagner Zell.

Around 500 children and young people from Germany, Austria, Poland, Italy, Greece and Ukraine designed the signs at the '4th Children's Summit'.

The vision behind the signs is to establish, just as in road traffic, an international language for harmonious and peaceful coexistence and social justice. The Road Signs of Justice are already well on their way to achieving this goal and are in use at numerous locations in Germany and across Europe.

The sign outside the refectory is updated at regular intervals and draws students' attention to various social issues.
