AI, medicine, the future: this night is changing the way we view research

With a wide range of topics, interactive formats and fascinating insights into the world of applied science, OTH Regensburg brings research to life and makes it accessible at NACHT.SCHAFFT.WISSEN. 2026 – for people of all ages.

What if robots could hear like us – or even better? How is artificial intelligence transforming medicine? And can a road really be ‘quiet’? OTH Regensburg will provide answers to these and many other fascinating questions at NACHT.SCHAFFT.WISSEN. on Friday, 24 April 2026. From 5 pm to 11 pm, the campus will be transformed into an interactive world of experience, where research is not just explained but brought to life.

The Science Night, organised by Stadtmarketing Regensburg, turns the whole of Regensburg into a stage for innovation and ideas for the future – and OTH Regensburg is right at the heart of it. With more than 60 individual activities on offer, the university is one of the most diverse venues.

More than just listening: active participation is expressly encouraged

Whether it’s current research topics, interactive experiments or practical workshops – OTH Regensburg offers a wide range of activities to suit every interest. Visitors will learn, among other things, how bionically inspired lightweight robots work, how electric currents affect the ground, whether our daily lives will be cashless in the future, and whether we will even need to learn to code in the future.

There is a particular focus on the numerous hands-on activities: in laboratories and workshops, guests can get actively involved themselves, for example in ‘hands-on biomechanics’, soldering for children or an escape game based on the STEM world. Those who want to experience technology up close can interact with robots, try out virtual reality applications or delve into the nanocosmos using an electron microscope.

A glimpse behind the scenes of modern research

Exclusive guided tours offer fascinating insights into laboratories and facilities that are not otherwise open to the public. Visitors can, for example, discover how state-of-the-art medical technology – from plasters to high-tech implants – is developed.

Social issues are not neglected either: formats such as ‘Profs unplugged’ or talks on career paths and leadership in times of crisis offer personal insights and encourage discussion.

An evening for the whole family

OTH Regensburg deliberately caters to a wide audience: many of its events are family-friendly and designed specifically for children and young people. At the same time, there are in-depth specialist talks and taster lectures for prospective students and specialists.

OTH Regensburg can be reached via Regensburg bus routes 11 (stop ‘OTH Regensburg’) and 6 or C6 (stop ‘TechCampus/OTH’). The additional Science Line 96 runs to NACHT.SCHAFFT.WISSEN. between 5 pm and 11 pm at 30-minute intervals.
