EU-co-funded 3DenTECT project: Successful first dental trauma day

The event was characterised by specialist presentations, practical insights and discussions on the management of dental trauma, offering a wide range of perspectives from both research and clinical practice.

As part of the EU-co-funded 3DenTECT project (3D Dental Traumatology Education Community Transfer) aimed at improving the management of dental trauma in the Bavarian-Czech border region, the first project-related Dental Trauma Day took place on Friday, 20 March 2026, at the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Periodontology at Erlangen University Hospital.

A total of over 75 participants attended in person or online via video link and listened to fascinating specialist presentations by the project team. Following the opening of the event by Prof. Galler (University Hospital Erlangen), Prof. Schratzenstaller (OTH Regensburg) and Dr Daniel Hrušák (Fakultní nemocnice Plzeň, Czech Republic) explained the background to the development and necessity of the project. Dr Maier (Erlangen University Hospital) then presented the epidemiology and types of injuries associated with dental accidents, Prof. Widbiller (Regensburg University Hospital) offered tips and tricks for first aid, and Prof. Galler vividly demonstrated the potential long-term consequences and complications of dental trauma and how to avoid them.

Alexander Raab (OTH Regensburg) concluded the entertaining and informative event with an outlook on the next steps of the project.
