First doc.Forum of the Graduate Centre: Inspiration, exchange and networking for doctoral candidates

With its first networking event, dok.Forum, the Graduate Centre at OTH Regensburg has successfully launched a new format for doctoral students. The aim of the forum is to create a space for exchange, networking and inspiration around the topic of doctoral studies.

To kick things off, Vice President Prof. Dr. Oliver Steffens and Dr. Fütterer-Akili, Head of the Graduate Centre, presented the centre and its services. Both emphasised the importance of the Graduate Centre as a central point of contact for doctoral students and those interested in pursuing a doctorate, as well as an outstanding institution for promoting young scientists at OTH Regensburg.

A particular highlight of the evening was the keynote speech by Christian Volkmer, President of the Regensburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce, on the topic of ‘Doctorates and their importance for starting a career in business: opportunities and challenges’. In the subsequent question and answer session, the doctoral students took the opportunity to discuss topics such as knowledge transfer between universities and companies, innovation culture and the role of doctoral graduates in business.

At the get-together with snacks and drinks that followed, the participants engaged in conversation with each other in a relaxed atmosphere. The focus was on personal exchange, getting to know each other and networking across faculty boundaries.
