Foundation for the Promotion of OTH Regensburg

Two new names on the Founders' Stele

Bayernwerk Academy and MTG Business Law Firm support students at OTH Regensburg.

The Foundation for the Promotion of OTH Regensburg has gained two further supporters: Bayernwerk Akademie and MTG Wirtschaftskanzlei are now immortalised on the donors’ stele in front of the entrance to the canteen and library. The number of names on the stele continues to rise and now stands at well over 160 – a visible sign of the ongoing commitment of companies, institutions and private individuals to supporting the students.

On Friday, 13 March 2026, the two new plaques were officially unveiled. For Dr Bernd Waffler, Chairman of the Foundation for the Promotion of OTH Regensburg and also a partner at MTG Wirtschaftskanzlei, the occasion held double significance: “Standing here today as a partner of MTG Wirtschaftskanzlei is a special moment. Through our endowment, we are consciously helping to provide young people with the best possible study conditions whilst simultaneously strengthening the regional economy in the long term.”

“Strong partnerships in the region”

Prof. Dr Ralph Schneider, President of OTH Regensburg, was also delighted with the new supporters: “OTH Regensburg thrives on strong partnerships in the region. These two endowments are a striking example of this. They enable our students to gain valuable international experience and support our continuing education programmes. This commitment sends an important signal for the future of the university and makes a clear contribution to the development of our region.”

With the Bayernwerk Academy, the foundation gains a partner that has itself been developing innovative training and further education formats for the past two years. The Academy offers practical learning programmes in energy technology, digitalisation and occupational safety, working closely with OTH Regensburg.

“Supporting the skilled workers of tomorrow is a joint task for industry and academia,” said Albert Zettl, Chief Human Resources and Marketing Officer at Bayernwerk AG. “With our endowment, we aim to provide targeted support to students at OTH Regensburg whilst further strengthening our close collaboration in the field of energy technology.” Together with Foundation Chairman Bernd Waffler, Albert Zettl affixed the new plaque to the donor stele.

Sabrina Hanner, Managing Director of Bayernwerk Akademie GmbH, added: “As an academy, we consistently focus on practical learning formats and modern teaching methods. Through our endowment, we aim to help inspire young people to take an interest in future-oriented topics such as energy technology and digitalisation, and to support them in their career development.”

Commitment to international mobility and further training

MTG Wirtschaftskanzlei has offices in five Bavarian locations – Kelheim, Regensburg, Straubing, Ingolstadt and Nuremberg – and offers auditing, tax consultancy and legal advice. Tax adviser and partner Carolin Kwasny and auditor/tax adviser and partner at MTG Wirtschaftskanzlei Michael Preißl were present at the event and personally unveiled the firm’s new sign. “Supporting young talent is a cause particularly close to our hearts at MTG Wirtschaftskanzlei,” said Carolin Kwasny.

For more than two decades, the Foundation for the Promotion of OTH Regensburg has supported study abroad programmes for students, international students studying at OTH Regensburg, and the university’s further education and professional development programmes. These programmes are being further strengthened by the endowments from the Bayernwerk Academy and MTG Wirtschaftskanzlei.
