Champions Cup winners are not only found in soccer. For over 20 years, Prof. Dr. Josef Duttle from OTH Regensburg has been organizing the “Management Cup Bavaria,” a management and entrepreneurship competition for students at Bavarian universities. Over 10,000 students from various disciplines have already participated in this multi-stage business simulation competition.
This year's final took place on May 26, 2025, with the Champions Cup Bavaria 2025 coming to a close at Krones AG in Neutraubling. Six finalist teams presented their results from the practical management simulation game to a high-ranking jury of Krones executives. The challenges for the students in the simulation game were demanding and very realistic. Economic policy issues such as the shortage of skilled workers, the energy crisis, inflation, the environment, and trade disputes between the US, China, and Europe had to be translated into good business results in the competition.
OTH Regensburg fights its way to the front
Munich University of Applied Sciences initially won the simulation competition with the development, production, and marketing of tablet PCs. The OTH team was in a promising 3rd place after the business simulation. The overall result had to be determined by the presentations at Krones. Here, the Regensburg team was able to make up ground, but could not displace Munich University of Applied Sciences from 1st place and ultimately finished in 2nd place in the Champions Cup Bavaria 2025.
It's not just winners who should be celebrated. A total of 50 teams from 10 Bavarian universities took part in the 2024/25 business simulation competition. The team from the East Bavarian Technical University of Regensburg won the silver medal with an outstanding second place in the final.
The right partner at your side
Krones proved to be an excellent host. Company presentations, factory tours, and insights into practical work were valuable additions to the final that were greatly appreciated by the students. The finalists confirmed that, in addition to learning a lot, they also had a lot of fun throughout the competition. Tiffanie Vogelhuber from TH Rosenheim remarked: “It was incredibly good to get out of my ‘study program bubble’ again and gain new, interdisciplinary impressions.”
