Top address for a master's degree

CHE Master's Ranking 2025: Top ratings for engineering degree programs at OTH Regensburg

OTH Regensburg is one of the top universities in the field of engineering. This is confirmed by the current master's ranking of the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE).

This year, the master's programmes of the three faculties of Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, and Mechanical Engineering were evaluated. The evaluation once again certifies the master's programmes as being of outstanding quality in terms of teaching, study organisation and research orientation. The master's programme in Mechanical Engineering was in the top group in all student evaluations.

In its national assessment, the CHE highlights the high level of satisfaction among master's students in engineering sciences, an assessment that is clearly reflected at OTH Regensburg. In terms of factual indicators, the degree programmes were ranked among the top group in the following areas, among others: degrees completed within a reasonable time, (cooperative) doctorates and third-party funding per professor

Master's students appreciate practical relevance and research orientation

‘The fact that we are among the top group in key criteria such as degrees completed in a reasonable time and cooperative doctorates demonstrates our consistent focus on high quality and individual support. The results confirm that our Master's programme in Civil Engineering is excellently positioned nationwide,’ explains Prof. Andreas Appelt, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering.

The CHE evaluated the students' assessments of the master's programmes offered by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. OTH students gave very good ratings for, among other things, the organisation of studies (4.8 out of 5 stars), the general study situation, support from teaching staff, research orientation and the transition to master's studies (4.6 stars each). ‘Our Master's students reward the clear structure, practical relevance and close integration of study and research with above-average ratings in all factual indicators. The very high ratings and top rankings in several factual indicators show that we provide them with optimal support on their way to demanding engineering careers,’ says Prof. Dr. Andreas Ellermeier, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology also assesses the results: ‘The solid average ranking for important criteria such as degrees completed within a reasonable time and the overall positive feedback from our students are an important signal: our range of courses is attractive, modern and teaches exactly the skills that industry urgently needs,’ emphasises Prof. Dr. Rainer Holmer, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology.

‘OTH Regensburg is a top address for master's studies’

"The CHE Master's Ranking 2025 shows once again that OTH Regensburg is excellently positioned in the field of engineering sciences. The consistently positive feedback from students, at a time when the number of engineering students is stagnating, is a strong signal of the attractiveness of our university. Our students benefit from high-quality teaching, modern laboratories, dedicated lecturers and an intensive focus on research. All this makes OTH Regensburg a top choice for master's programmes," says Prof. Dr. Ralph Schneider, President of OTH Regensburg.
