Prof. Dr. Jaritz thanked the members of the Senate for their continued trust: ‘I am delighted about my re-election and would like to express my sincere thanks for the trust placed in my work to date. I see this vote as encouragement to continue on the path we have taken together with the re-elected and new senators.’
Prof. Dr. Jaritz is starting her new term of office with great gratitude and renewed enthusiasm. She attaches particular importance to appreciative cooperation within the Senate, with the university management and with all those involved in statutes and regulations. ‘The committee is even more diverse in composition this term – an important signal, especially in view of the breadth of our teaching and the growing importance of research,’ says Jaritz.
Focus on AI-supported preliminary examination tool
A key concern for the coming years is to make the Senate's work even more efficient in view of the increasing number of topics. To this end, Prof. Jaritz plans to develop an AI-supported preliminary review tool that can automatically check the structure and form of submitted examination regulations. This will give Senate members more time for strategic and content-related issues in the future – an innovative step towards digitally supported university management.
Since 2022, Prof. Dr. Sabine Jaritz, professor at the Faculty of Business and Management, has headed the university's central committee. She stands for constructive, participatory and future-oriented Senate work in which the diversity of the university is understood as a strength.
Prof. Dr. Christoph Palm from the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics has been a member of the Senate since 2017 and its Vice-Chair since 2018.
‘I would like to thank Prof. Dr. Sabine Jaritz and Prof. Dr. Christoph Palm for the excellent cooperation between the university management and the Senate, and I look forward to shaping the future of our university together,’ emphasised Prof. Dr. Ralph Schneider, President of OTH Regensburg, after the election decision.
Tasks of the Senate
Among other things, the Senate decides on the legal regulations to be issued by the university and on the promotion of young scientists. It determines research priorities, decides on applications for the establishment of special research areas and deals with proposals for the appointment of professors.
The university's public summary minutes of the Senate meetings can be viewed in the document portal under University Management/Senate.
