Representatives from educational institutions and medtech companies in Germany and Austria came together for the innovation workshop ‘XR in Nursing Education’ to share their experiences and insights from the test phases. There was a particular focus on the results of initial theses, such as ‘Pig Heart vs. VR in OTA/ATA Training,’ which deal intensively with the use of immersive technologies in nursing education.
‘The Care Education Forum in Germany is a unique example of how teaching and research can intertwine. We have enabled more than 20 institutions to borrow equipment for several weeks – and even more educational institutions have taken advantage of our consulting and implementation appointments on the integration of XR.’ M.A. Anselm Stadler, research assistant in the VReduMED project.
Participants discussed success factors and challenges of XR integration and gained exciting insights into practical applications. A highlight was the presentation of the results from the ‘Care Meets VR Technology’ hackathon, which generated innovative ideas for practical use.
The event marked the last major meeting of the German network within the framework of the research project. Prof. Dr. Christa Mohr, head of the VReduMED project at OTH Regensburg, emphasised the impressive growth over the last three years:
"The question now is how we can establish the Care Education Forum on a permanent basis – there is a clear desire for this among educational institutions.
The event clearly demonstrated that XR technologies offer enormous potential for the digital future of care education.
