OTH Regensburg PhD student honoured with Best Students Paper Award in Montreal

PhD students Friedrich Eder and Simon Höng took part in the International Conference on Computing in Civil and Building Engineering (ICCCBE) in Montreal together with their supervisor Prof Mathias Obergrießer.

The ICCCBE is a biennial conference series dedicated to information technology in construction. It offers a unique opportunity for experts and researchers from the various disciplines of civil engineering who deal with information technology to come together and exchange ideas.
Friedrich Eder and Simon Höng both presented interim results of their doctoral projects at this event. Friedrich Eder won 3rd place in the Best Students Paper Award with his paper ‘Towards Improving Data Interoperability for the Reconstruction of Existing Buildings’. This emphasises the outstanding quality of his research work and his commitment to driving digital change in the construction industry.
In his innovative paper ‘Exploring the potential of BIM models for deriving synthetic training data for machine learning applications’, Simon Höng also presented new approaches for the implementation of machine learning in the construction industry, thus providing important impetus for the future of construction informatics.
Participation in the conference was made possible with the support of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Centre for Research and Transfer (ZFT). This enabled the researchers to make valuable international contacts and represent OTH Regensburg on an international stage.
