Business administration is more in demand than ever: the three-day "early bird bw" event, which gives school pupils and high school graduates the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the wide range of courses offered by the Faculty of Business Administration at OTH Regensburg, was fully booked in no time at all this year. More than 150 students and school leavers registered for the 63 places available. From 1 to 3 July, the programme included lectures on fundamentals, marketing and logistics, an introduction to digital transformation, a visit to the start-up lab and much more. One highlight was a visit to the Hilti store in Regensburg. A campus and city tour as well as a pub rally rounded off the insight into student life at the university. The three-day taster programme is unique in Germany and therefore has an impact far beyond the greater Regensburg area. Individual participants came from Paris, Hamburg, Lüneburg and Bonn, for example. The feedback from the final round of feedback was consistently positive. Many "early birds" are now applying for a place on one of the Faculty of Business Administration's three Bachelor's degree programmes.
From the winter semester 2024/25, the Faculty of Business Administration is expanding its range of courses and launching the new Bachelor's degree programme in Digital Business Management. This will optimally prepare future graduates for a specialist or management career in the context of digital transformation. In addition to application-orientated AI and digital business models, the curriculum also includes future work skills. Graduates are familiar with technical solutions, can evaluate them from a business perspective and are aware of the ethical implications. The focus is not on creating software, but on how companies and organisations can use digitalisation successfully. For example, students learn how to develop innovative business models, use digital technologies strategically and lead teams through digital change.
In the second study phase, students have the opportunity to choose specific courses from the catalogue of the Regensburg School of Digital Sciences (e.g. from the fields of AI, data analysis or robotics).
From the winter semester 2024/25, there will also be changes to the established degree programmes with regard to internationalisation, which will be reflected in new names at first glance. The Bachelor's degree programmes Business Management and International Business Management as well as the Master's degree programmes Business Management and International Management will be created. The Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in European Business Management will be renamed to open up cooperation opportunities with non-European partner universities.
For Prof Dr Alexander Urban, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, the innovations are simply a consequence of the work done so far. "We did extremely well in the StudyCheck Ranking 2024, with our Bachelor's degree programmes receiving a 99 per cent recommendation from students. For us, the ratings are a sign of the outstanding work done by the teaching staff at the Faculty of Business Administration. In order to maintain this high level, we will invest a lot of effort in the coming years to further expand our range of courses and react flexibly to changes such as digitalisation and internationalisation."
