The future of crime - Cybercrime Summer School in Glasgow

International perspectives, current threats, practical solutions: the Cybercrime Summer School 2025 in Glasgow provides impetus for the digital security of tomorrow.

The Cybercrime Summer School took place for the eighth time at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. Students and researchers from various countries exchanged ideas in workshops and lectures and jointly developed new approaches to combating digital threats. With several participants and speakers, OTH Regensburg was actively involved in shaping the event.

The Summer School ran from 25 to 29 August 2025 and was jointly organised by the University of Strathclyde (Scotland), Simon Fraser University (Canada), OTH Amberg-Weiden and OTH Regensburg. It offered a diverse programme of lectures, workshops and panel discussions on topics such as AI security, data protection, digital resilience, phishing campaigns and the regulation of AI from a human rights perspective. The event brought together students, researchers and practitioners from all over the world and promoted international exchange and networking in the field of cybersecurity.

The workshops on the development and implementation of phishing campaigns and the analysis of AI-generated content were particularly practical. Participants were able to actively contribute and gain new perspectives on the challenges of the digital world.

OTH Regensburg is delighted with its successful participation and invites all interested parties to save the date for the next Cybercrime Summer School, which will take place in Glasgow from 24 to 28 August 2026. An insight into this year's agenda and a preview of next year's programme can be found on the University of Strathclyde's project page.
