The Human Resources department carefully evaluated the experiences and feedback from the first round and incorporated them into the further development of the format. In the current implementation, the focus was on interactive, mutual getting-to-know-you from the outset. This encouraged initial conversations, strengthened the sense of community and conveyed the awareness of being part of a larger whole.
The programme continued with an informative presentation by the President, Prof. Dr. Schneider, and the Chancellor, Mr. Endres, on OTH Regensburg yesterday, today and tomorrow. ‘The most important thing is good cooperation. I ask you to get actively involved and ask questions,’ emphasised President Prof. Dr. Schneider in his speech. Chancellor Endres also underlined the importance of an open and appreciative culture of welcome: ‘Those who feel welcome can orient themselves better and get involved more actively. That is exactly what we want to achieve with this new format.’
The programme was supplemented by an overview from the Human Resources department on practical topics such as time recording, sick leave and internal processes. The offerings of the ‘Healthy University’, presented by Dr Janina Curbach, and information about the staff council rounded off the event nicely.
Once again, the campus rally was a particular highlight: in small groups, the new employees explored the campus, discovered key facilities and expanded their knowledge of OTH Regensburg in a fun way.
The positive feedback from participants shows that Welcome Day has established itself as a valuable element in the onboarding process and will remain an integral part of the arrival process at OTH Regensburg in the future.
