Mathematics

Afraid of maths? Not with us!

Starting university mathematics in a relaxed manner – that is the goal of 110 first-year students who are refreshing their mathematics skills in the lecture hall for two weeks in September, even before the official start of the semester.

While regular lectures are still on hold, there has been plenty of activity at OTH Regensburg since 15 September. True to the motto ‘Good preparation is everything!’, 110 future students are preparing for their studies. Starting in the 2025/2026 winter semester, they will begin bachelor's degrees in electrical engineering and information technology, mechanical engineering, or industrial design and building climate control in the Faculty of Architecture.

To ease the transition from school to university, Prof. Dr. Ulrich Briem and Prof. Dr. Valter Böhm from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering are helping the prospective students with mathematical ‘warm-up exercises’. As the preparatory course is being offered for the 16th time with organisational support from the Centre for Continuing Education and Knowledge Management (ZWW), the two lecturers have the necessary routine and experience to give each and every one of them a smooth start to this new phase of their lives.
